Terms & Conditions of Grooming
General Terms
While every effort is made to create a calm and positive grooming experience, some dogs may find certain parts of the process stressful—particularly senior pets, puppies, those who are overweight, or dogs with existing medical conditions. Grooming can occasionally uncover or worsen an underlying issue during or after the appointment. In these cases, any resulting medical expenses remain the owner’s responsibility unless negligence is proven. Your pet’s wellbeing is always my top priority, and their comfort will guide every decision made during the session. I may take photos or short videos of your dog to showcase their groom on social media, for educational use, or for promotional purposes. If you’d prefer your pet not to be featured, please let me know at the time of your appointment.

Matting Policy
I practice humanity over vanity. Your dog’s comfort and welfare will always come before appearance. If your pet arrives with a severely matted or neglected coat, and I believe that it would be kinder to remove the coat rather than attempt to brush it out, the coat will be clipped in accordance with The Animal Welfare Act 2006. Severe matting can cause significant discomfort, including skin irritation, bruising, sores, abrasions, hot spots, and restricted blood circulation. In these cases, the most humane option is often to remove the coat using a blade short enough to pass safely beneath the matting. Although every precaution is taken, there is a small risk of irritation or injury due to the condition of the coat and the tools required for the process. By leaving your pet in my care, you acknowledge both the condition of your dog’s coat and the potential risks associated with removing it. During the pre-groom consultation, I will assess your dog’s coat and discuss any areas of concern with you. However, in some cases, the full extent of matting may only become clear once grooming begins. If this happens, I will contact you before proceeding. An additional fee of up to £20 may apply to cover the extra time, care, and equipment wear associated with dematting or coat removal.

Flea & Tick Policy
Maintaining a clean and hygienic salon is essential for the health and wellbeing of both dogs and people. To help keep our environment safe and comfortable for everyone, please ensure your dog is kept up to date with regular flea and tick treatments. If fleas are discovered before the groom begins, your dog will need to be collected for treatment, and the appointment rescheduled. If fleas are found during the grooming process, a specialised flea shampoo will be used, and an additional £10 fee will be added to cover the extra cleaning and sanitisation required. If ticks are found at any stage, the groom will need to be paused, and your dog collected for veterinary treatment before returning for their next appointment. I do not carry out tick removal, as I believe this should always be handled by a qualified veterinarian to ensure the tick is removed safely and completely.

Vaccination Policy
For the safety and wellbeing of all dogs visiting the salon, it’s important that your pet is up to date with their routine vaccinations, including but not limited to, protection against parvovirus, distemper, hepatitis, and leptospirosis. While proof of vaccination isn’t required, by booking with me you confirm that your dog’s vaccinations are current and that they are fit and healthy to attend their grooming session. If your dog is unwell, recently vaccinated, or recovering from illness or surgery, please contact me before your appointment so we can discuss the best time to safely reschedule. All dogs recovering from surgery must be signed off by their veterinarian before attending a grooming session - I may require this in writing from your vet. This policy helps ensure a safe, hygienic environment for every dog in my care.

Behaviour Policy
Every dog deserves a calm and positive grooming experience, and I work hard to ensure each session is as stress-free as possible. However, some dogs may find certain parts of the grooming process overwhelming, and their behaviour can become unpredictable as a result. For the safety of both your dog and myself, I reserve the right to use a muzzle when necessary. Muzzling is never a punishment, it’s a protective measure that allows grooming to continue safely and calmly. If at any point I feel that your dog’s behaviour poses a risk to their safety or mine, I will stop the session and contact you immediately. In some cases, the groom may need to be ended early, and the dog collected - in this case, I still require full payment. My goal is always to handle every dog with patience, compassion, and understanding while maintaining a safe environment for everyone in the salon.
